College Scholarships

These scholarships were established especially for students in the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice. High school and transfer students may apply for the Relgalf scholarship, but must be an FSU criminology student upon receiving the award. Scholarships are determined annually.

Graduate Student Opportunities

Robert L. Clark Scholarship
  • Competent and deserving graduate student.
  • All new graduate students with completed graduate applications by January 15, are automatically considered for this scholarship pending acceptance into the graduate program. No application is required.
  • Preference is given to students beginning their graduate work.
  • Award amount varies year-to-year.
Eugene and Rosalind Czajkoski Scholarship Fund
  • Students enrolled in the FSU College of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
  • Student must submit a 1500–2000 word essay demonstrating his or her interest in exploring, within criminology, issues involving the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
  • Application deadline September 15
Jerry A. and Carolyn S. Glass Scholarship Award
  • Undergraduate or graduate student who demonstrates academic ability along with financial need.
  • Preference give to students from Jackson County, Florida, who are lineal descendants of current or deceased members of the Marianna Kiwanis Club or of current or deceased members of the Fishermen's Sunday School Class of the First Baptists Church of Marianna, Florida.
  • Award amount varies year-to-year.
Joe Harris Memorial Teaching Fellowship (due January 15)
  • Candidate may nominate themselves or be nominated by other graduate students or faculty who have had direct experience or observations of their teaching abilities.
  • Graduate student.
  • Awarded to a current graduate student on the basis of his/her excellence as an undergraduate classroom instructor.
  • The recipient is assigned to teach one undergraduate course per semester during the period of the fellowship.
  • Award amount varies year-to-year.
  • Application materials required: (1) applications (2) letter of nomination (3) written statement of your teaching philosophy.
Ernest Kearns Ponce De Leon Memorial Scholarship
  • This scholarship was established in memory of Police Officer Ernest Ponce De Leon, slain in the line of duty in July 1988.
  • Undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Applicants must currently be employed as law enforcement officers and demonstrate financial need.
  • Award amount varies year-to-year.
James C. Sweat Annual Student Aid Award
  • Undergraduate or graduate student with financial need and/or demonstrated academic success (minimum 3.0 GPA).
  • First preference is given to full-time undergraduate or graduate Criminology students whose legal residence is in Florida and who are children or grandchildren of current or retired sworn or non-sworn employees of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
  • Second preference is given to full-time FSU students (regardless of major) whose legal residence is in Florida and who are children or grandchildren of current or retired sworn or non-sworn employees of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
  • If candidates are available from the first or second preference, but none demonstrate financial need, the award will be based on merit.
  • Third preference is given to full-time undergraduate or graduate Criminology students who are the children or grandchildren of law enforcement deputies, either current or retired, of any Florida sheriff's office.
  • Annual award of $2,176.

Undergraduate Student Opportunities

Frank A. and Lynn W. Baker Scholarship Award
  • Preference is given to junior and senior undergraduates from Jackson County, Florida, who are focused on the areas of corrections, law enforcement, and security administration and demonstrate financial need.
  • Award amount varies year-to-year.
Eugene and Rosalind Czajkoski Scholarship Fund
  • Students enrolled in the FSU College of Criminology and Criminal Justice.

Corey D. Dahlem Memorial Endowed Scholarship
  • Upcoming junior level undergraduate with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Applications should be turned in during sophomore year.
  • Applicants must not have been convicted of any alcohol-related offense, reckless driving, or any type of driving or operating under the influence charge.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • First preference is given to children of current sworn law enforcement officers in the Gainsville, Florida, Police Department.
  • Subsequent preferences are given to the children of current sworn law enforcement officers in other Florida law enforcement agencies and then to any candidate seeking to pursue a degree in law enforcement.
  • This scholarship was established as a lasting tribute to Gainsville Police Department Lieutenant Corey D. Dahlem, who was killed in the line of duty April 2007.
  • The two-year award is contingent on the recipient maintaining a 2.75 GPA or higher.

  • Award amount varies year-to-year.
Kelly Ivey Memorial Scholarship
  • Upcoming junior level undergraduate. Applications should be turned in during sophomore year.
  • Preference will be given to a student who demonstrates academic ability and financial need and is from Escambia or Santa Rosa counties.
  • Second preference is given to a student from the Florida Panhandle.
  • Award amount varies year-to-year.
  • Award is presented to the recipient at a Pensacola Seminole Booster Club meeting, which the student is required to attend.

Relgalf Scholarship
  • Created by the Relgalf Charitable Foundation to increase the resources for small U.S. police departments
  • Endorsed by the Florida Police Chiefs Association.
  • Undergraduate students who will serve in small police departments upon graduation
  • First preference is given to current law enforcement officers in small departments (fewer than 21 officers)
  • Second preference is given to students who will become police officers
  • Scholarship pays full-tuition and living expenses for four years
  • Recipients must re-pay the award if they do not join a small police force upon graduation.
  • Entering freshmen and transfer students are encouraged to apply.

Robert Williams Endowed Scholarship
  • This scholarship was established in memory of Robert J. "Rob" Williams, a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agent slain in the line of duty of February 1993.
  • The scholarship is awarded to upcoming seniors interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.
  • Students should apply during their junior year.
  • Award amount varies year-to-year.
