Students: Are you about to embark on a job search journey? The College of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the FSU Career Center are here to help! Next Tuesday, March 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. in Eppes Hall, room 214, career development experts will offer an interview preparation workshop. Topics they will cover include dressing for success, dealing with interview anxiety, correct interview behavior, and preparing for typical interview questions. The experts will also go over what questions you may want to ask a potential employer during the interview.

FSU’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice will be hosting the 2014 Criminology Career Panel on April 2. The event will take place at the Claude Pepper Center’s Broad Auditorium from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Criminology’s 2014 Career Panel will include representatives from the Public Defender’s Office, Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy, Anabelle Dias Law Firm, Chief Inspector General Office, and the Florida Department of Corrections.

Criminology students are invited to attend an internship and career fair on February 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Oglesby Union Ballrooms. Hosted by the FSU Career Center, students will have the opportunity to meet agency decision-makers face-to-face.

Criminology students are invited to a Resume Writing Workshop, Tuesday, February 11th from 1:00pm – 2:00pm in room 214 Eppes Hall. Led by Criminology Career Advisor, Dustin Gummels and the FSU Career Center staff, students will learn the “Do’s” and “Don’ts” of resume writing. Writing cover letters and developing lists of references are also part of this hour-long workshop.

University Communications and the Office of the Provost hosted the second annual Newsmakers of the Year event, a celebration of Florida State University faculty members whose expertise and research raised the university’s profile in 2013, on January 28 at the Augustus B. Turnbull III Florida State Conference Center. Dr. Bill Bales, Dr. Kevin Beaver, Dr. Terry Coonan, and Dr. Gary Kleck were recognized as top newsmakers for the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice.

Undergraduate students looking to get a jump start on graduate coursework are encouraged to attend the Bachelors to Master’s Information Session on October 16 at 1:15 p.m. in Eppes Hall, Room 214. The Bachelor’s to Master’s program is designed to fast-track ambitious undergraduate students committed to pursuing their Master’s degree at FSU’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice. Attendees will enjoy light refreshments and learn what graduate coursework is like, how to finance their education, and whether they qualify for the program.

Fall Internship Fair
FSU Criminology and Criminal Justice students are some of the most valuable prospects for Tallahassee’s top criminal justice agencies. To make sure our students get even more exposure to these agencies, this year we’ve teamed up with the FSU Career Center to host the fall Internship Fair.

As Florida State University gears up for Parent’s Weekend on October 4, 2013, the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice is excited to announce that its new home on campus, Eppes Hall, will be open to its students and their parents on Friday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Light refreshments and staff will be on-site to provide tours of the new home of the College, Eppes Hall. The College encourages all students to bring their families to Eppes Hall to enjoy our new amenities and get a first-hand look at how the field of criminology is advancing.
