Criminology Professor Honored With 2017 Outstanding Mentor Award

The Florida Education Fund recently announced Dr. Eric Stewart, Ronald L. Simons Professor of Criminology as the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Mentor Award for his exceptional contribution to the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Program. The William R. Jones Award Committee unanimously awarded Dr. Stewart this honor after reviewing the nomination statements of several graduate students.

“We are so very fortunate to have Dr. Stewart among our faculty,” stated, Dean Blomberg. “He is not only a gifted and productive scholar but, as the 2017 Outstanding Mentor Award recognizes, a caring and effective mentor for so many of our students.”

Dr. Stewart will officially receive the award in October at the Awards and Induction Ceremony.

“I am honored and humbled that the students thought of me in this way,” said Dr. Stewart. “I just love the community we have built in the College with our faculty and students. ”
