The College is pleased to announce that Dr. Daniel P. Mears, Mark C. Stafford Professor of Criminology has just been named a Fellow of the American Society of Criminology (ASC).
This prestigious status recognizes those who have made a scholarly contribution to the intellectual life of the discipline, whether in the form of a singular, major piece of scholarship or cumulative scholarly contributions. Additionally, this status acknowledges those who have made a significant contribution to the field through the career development of other criminologists and/or through organizational activities within the ASC.
Dr. Mears was honored with this award for his outstanding contributions to research on crime and criminal justice policy, as well as his service to the association and to the field of criminology.
Dr. Mears will be recognized in Atlanta during the 2018 ASC Annual Meeting Awards Plenary on November 14.
This is the second year in a row a professor from the College has been named an ASC Fellow. Dr. Eric Stewart, Ronald L. Simons Professor of Criminology was recognized with this fellowship in 2017.
The College wishes to congratulate Dr. Mears on this well deserved distinction along with his outstanding work in the discipline.
