An Evaluation of the Education Services Provided to Juveniles in the Polk County Jail

The purpose of this study is to determine, through a process evaluation, the level and quality of educational services provided to juveniles within the Polk County Jail. The evaluation consists of interviewing school administrators, reviewing the jail’s educational policy documents, observing each classroom/teacher, as well as reviewing selected student files. The initial report includes the evaluation’s findings, recommendations, and implementation strategies. In addition the project includes ongoing monitoring and technical assistance to the Polk County Schools regarding education services  for juveniles and Direct File Youth
