Recent College of Criminology and Criminal Justice graduate, Catherine Meadors, was inducted into the Garnet and Gold Scholar Society
on Aug. 4.

Ms. Meadors was one of 20 Summer 2016 inductees into the Society, which facilitates involvement and recognizes engaged, well-rounded undergraduate students who excel within and beyond the classroom in the areas of leadership, internship, service, international, and research.

To qualify for the prestigious Garnet & Gold Scholar Society, Ms. Meadors was required to meet three of the five areas listed above and complete a synthesis reflection. Her areas included service, leadership, and internship. To meet the internship requirement, Ms. Meadors interned through the College with the State Attorney’s Office in Miami, Fla.

Ms. Meadors described being inducted into the Society as “one of the most honoring and humbling moments” of her undergraduate experience.

This fall she plans to attend the police academy and begin a yearlong service as a City Year AmeriCorps Member. City Year is an education-focused organization dedicated to helping students and schools succeed in urban, high-poverty communities across the U.S. Through the organization, Ms. Meadors will be providing high impact student, classroom, and school-wide support, to help students stay in school and on track to graduate from high school, ready for college and career success.
