The Criminology Internship Program assists applicant law enforcement officer’s intent on careers in law enforcement through practical, hands-on experience at the Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy at the Florida Public Safety Institute. Motivated criminology students can earn their State Officer Certification, while also earning a degree at FSU. The Florida Sheriffs Association, The Leon County Sheriff’s Office and the Tallahassee Police Department have established a scholarship fund to assist Criminology interns enrolled at the Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy at the Florida Public Safety Institute. The Florida Sheriffs Association Law Enforcement Academy Scholarship, and the Ernest K. Ponce de Leon Memorial Law Enforcement Academy Scholarship, will help alleviate the stress of covering multiple tuitions, and ensure that students in the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice, who pursue careers in law enforcement, continue to be leaders in their field.
