The Tallahassee U.S. Probation Office is seeking a computer criminology student for a fall internship, with hopes that it will turn into a full time position. Ideally they are interested in a student who has an interest in digital forensics and probation work. Experience in the tools listed below is preferred but not required.

From Senior U.S Probation Officer Michael A. Sobeski:

“The United States Probation Office conducts forensic analysis on digital evidence in federal cases involving violations of supervised release and pretrial services. Our mission is to ensure individuals placed on supervision are in compliance with court ordered terms of supervision. Interns will assist in the computer lab with acquiring digital images from electronic devices, performing examinations on images and documenting and reporting evidence. They will be exposed to some of the most commonly used tools in the field to include Field Tool Kit, Encase, Internet Evidence Finder, Cellebrite, and Secure View. They will also assist by conducting previews of computers using preview tools such as Field Search, osTriage, and others. In addition to the above, interns will be exposed to the day to day operation of probation work and assist with all other duties to accomplish our goals related to our Computer and Internet Monitoring Program”
