Join Lambda Alpha Epsilon in funding a rescue operation by competing in the Amazing Race to Freedom Saturday, Feb. 18 at 12:00 p.m. in the FSU Student Life Center.
The Lambda chapter of Lambda Alpha Epsilon, the professional criminal justice organization at Florida State University, is raising awareness of human trafficking and modern day slavery as well as supporting International Justice Mission by raising money to fund a rescue operation, bringing freedom to men, women, and children across the world!
Starting at the Askew Student Life Center, teams will compete in The Amazing Race to Freedom, a trek around the world (of FSU’s campus) to learn more about human trafficking and modern day slavery. At every destination, each team must compete in a series of challenges, some mental and some physical, and only when the tasks are completed will they learn of their next location. The amazing race will be fun, educational, and suitable for students and community members. The first team to arrive at the final destination will win The Amazing Race to Freedom and the first place prize. Prizes will also be awarded to the largest donation and the most creative team.
The cost to compete is $25 per team (3-5 members) and proceeds will benefit International Justice Mission. International Justice Mission (IJM) is the world’s largest international anti-slavery organization, working to fight modern day slavery, human trafficking, and other forms of violence against the poor. IJM partners with local authorities to rescue victims of violence, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen justice systems. IJM’s founding principle is the defense and protection of individual human rights for all people by bringing the law to bear on their behalf. IJM’s justice professionals work through 17 offices globally to ensure that the poor have tangible and sustainable protection of national laws through local court systems.
