Two Faculty Members at the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice Awarded Promotion and Tenure

Two College of Criminology and Criminal Justice faculty members were recently awarded promotion and tenure. Dr. Cecilia Chouhy and Dr. Marin Wenger were each promoted to Associate Professor.

Dr. Cecilia Chouhy

Dr. Cecilia Chouhy's promotion to Associate Professor took effect at the beginning of the Fall 2022 semester. She has been a College of Criminology and Criminal Justice faculty member since 2016. She also serves as Co-Director for the International and Comparative Criminology Research and Policy Institute, a branch of the College's Center for Criminology and Public Policy Research. Her research focuses on conducting international tests of criminological theories, evaluating the effectiveness and impact of criminal justice interventions, and understanding the sources and consequences of public opinion about crime and punishment. Her work pays particular attention to the role of race and racism in understanding crime and punishment. Read more about Professor Chouhy's research and publications here.

Dr. Marin R. Wenger

Dr. Marin Wenger's promotion to Associate Professor took effect at the beginning of the Fall 2022 semester. She has been a College of Criminology and Criminal Justice faculty member since 2016. Her work focuses on stratification, communities and crime, deviance, hate crime, racial disparity, and quantitative methods. She also serves as a Faculty Affiliate for the Hate Crime Research & Policy Institute, a branch of the College's Center for Criminology and Public Policy Research. The Florida State University College of Criminology and Criminal Justice's Center for Criminology and Public Policy Research expands the influence of scholarship in the public policy arena. The Center promotes using evidence-based criminological research in policy and practice at the local, state, and national levels. The Center's primary goal is to support data collection and research initiatives with application to crime and justice policy to promote social justice.
