Garry Adel, B.S. ’78, will retire from his law practice in late 2014. He has been practicing in Ocala for 31 years. Garry shared warm memories as a student and expressed his deep appreciation of the education he received at FSU Criminology.

On Friday, June 20, the 2014 Thirty Under 30 and the six recipients of the Reubin O’D. Askew Young Alumni Award were honored at the Young Alumni Awards Dinner. The Florida State University Alumni Association’s Thirty Under 30 Award was created to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of FSU’s young alumni.
FSU Criminology is pleased to announce one of its own Ph.D. graduates, Karla Dhungana was among the list of recipients. Karla is a Senior Research Associate at The Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Karen McElrath has been selected as the Dudley E. Flood Endowed Professor of Criminal Justice at Fayetteville State University (FSU). The announcement was made on May 6, 2014 by Dr. David Barlow, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Miriam DeLone, chair of the Department of Criminal Justice.
Administrators at Florida State University’s (FSU) College of Criminology and Criminal Justice are saddened to report the assassination of alumna Dana Seetahal, MS ’85 Criminology. The United States Embassy at Port of Spain notified FSU Criminology Director of Development Kevin Derryberry of her passing Wednesday, May 7.

As Florida State University gears up for Parent’s Weekend on October 4, 2013, the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice is excited to announce that its new home on campus, Eppes Hall, will be open to its students and their parents on Friday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Light refreshments and staff will be on-site to provide tours of the new home of the College, Eppes Hall. The College encourages all students to bring their families to Eppes Hall to enjoy our new amenities and get a first-hand look at how the field of criminology is advancing.
Francis Eppes established his legacy as the pioneering leader and benefactor of Florida State University in 1856. As the oldest and most highly ranked criminology program in the nation, we strive to honor our past as we build toward the future. We look forward to the grand opening of the Eppes Building this fall, which will serve as the new home of the College of Criminology & Criminal Justice.

On Saturday, December 18, 2010 the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice lost a very dear friend, and someone that many alumni knew very well, Mary Harris. Known as “Mary” to faculty, and “Mrs. Harris” to thousands of students, she was a tireless worker, a dedicated professional, and a friend to all.
The College of Criminology & Criminal Justice is excited to announce it will be moving to its new home during the summer of 2013! Historic Eppes Hall, originally known as the Education Building, first opened its doors to Florida State College for Women students in 1918 and was the first building on campus devoted entirely to classroom use. The handsome building’s exterior is adorned with a stonework owl, frogs, and Florida’s state seal, which complement its great tradition on campus and the legend after which the building was named: Francis W.
College of Criminology and Criminal Justice alum Dr. Charles Russell Massey who recently retired as associate professor of criminal justice at Florida Atlantic University, passed away, Friday, March 23, 2012. Dr. Massey received his doctorate in criminology from FSU and worked on the Des Moines Community-Based Corrections Exemplary Project at FSU from 1974 to 1977.
