FSU’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice proudly announces the 2013-2014 Scholarship Award Winners:
The Frank A. and Lynn W. Baker Scholarship has been awarded to Ashlee Burns and Precious Johnson.
The Robert L. Clark Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Cashen Boccio.
The Criminology General Scholarship has been awarded to Christie Falco and Julie Mestre.
The Eugene and Rosalind Czajkoski Scholarship has been awarded to Tracey Woodard.
Florida State University senior Joseph LaBelle’s passion for Guatemala developed after studying human rights and living in Antigua, Guatemala for four months in May 2012.
To complete his Criminology internship requirement, Joseph chose to spend eight and a half months in Chontala, a remote village located in the highlands of Guatemala. He lived in a four-room building attached to a church. The building was somewhat primitive; he cooked his meals over a homemade wood-burning stove and only sometimes had electricity and running water.

Florida State University senior Michael “Eli” Mitrani’s dedication, ambition and educational pursuits position him well to reach his professional goal of working in national security — about which he can’t say much due to the nature of that profession.
“I just know I want to work for the federal government,” the dual criminology and psychology major said. “I’m interested in doing criminal investigations.”
And that’s nearly all the detail one can get out of Mitrani about his future goals. His ideal job in international affairs and law enforcement requires extreme secrecy.

FSU administrators have approved the implementation of the 3+3 program, an accelarated program jointly administered by the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the FSU College of Law. The program allows qualified students to receive their bachelor’s degree from Criminology and juris doctorate degree from the College of Law in just six years.

The Department of Computer Science can now award more than $3.2 million to students studying computer science, computer criminology, computational biology, information security, and computer and network system administration through scholarships.
Undergraduate students looking to get a jump start on graduate coursework are encouraged to attend the Bachelors to Master’s Information Session on October 16 at 1:15 p.m. in Eppes Hall, Room 214. The Bachelor’s to Master’s program is designed to fast-track ambitious undergraduate students committed to pursuing their Master’s degree at FSU’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Attendees will enjoy light refreshments and learn what graduate coursework is like, how to finance their education, and whether they qualify for the program.
During their academic career, students are faced with many choices. For Criminology and Criminal Justice students, the decision to attend graduate school or pursue a career is one of the most difficult decisions to make. Pursuing a graduate or professional degree requires a significant investment of time and resouces and a commitment to academic excellence.
