The online Bachelor’s degree program at FSU’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice has been ranked number two in the nation for Online Criminal Justice Programs for the 2014 Academic Year by BestColleges.com, a resource for students wishing to make an educated choice about pursuing higher education. The ranking is determined using information from student and faculty surveys, independent research, ranking systems, and the input of other credible and authoritative sources. This is the second year FSU Criminology has received this prestigious award.

Dr. Karen McElrath has been selected as the Dudley E. Flood Endowed Professor of Criminal Justice at Fayetteville State University (FSU). The announcement was made on May 6, 2014 by Dr. David Barlow, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Miriam DeLone, chair of the Department of Criminal Justice.

Administrators at Florida State University’s (FSU) College of Criminology and Criminal Justice are saddened to report the assassination of alumna Dana Seetahal, MS ’85 Criminology. The United States Embassy at Port of Spain notified FSU Criminology Director of Development Kevin Derryberry of her passing Wednesday, May 7.

Dean Thomas Blomberg and the faculty and staff at the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice are proud to announce the recent Eppes Hall renovation has received a preservation award. Eppes Hall was recognized by the jury of the 2014 Tallahassee/Leon County Historic Preservation Awards for outstanding achievement in the Civic/Community Resource Preservation category.

The College of Criminology and Criminal Justice is proud to announce two of its first year assistant professors have received prestigious research awards. Dr. Kecia Johnson and Dr. Ashley Rubin were granted First Year Assistant Professor Awards for the 2013-2014 year by the Council on Research and Creativity. The awards, which provide $20,000 toward summer salary support, were granted to just 76 faculty members university-wide.

Next Tuesday, March 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. in Eppes Hall, room 214, career development experts will offer an interview preparation workshop. Topics they will cover include dressing for success, dealing with interview anxiety, correct interview behavior, and preparing for typical interview questions. The experts will also go over what questions you may want to ask a potential employer during the interview.

FSU’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice will be hosting the 2014 Criminology Career Panel on April 2. The event will take place at the Claude Pepper Center’s Broad Auditorium from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Criminology’s 2014 Career Panel will include representatives from the Public Defender’s Office, Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy, Anabelle Dias Law Firm, Chief Inspector General Office, and the Florida Department of Corrections.

Florida State University’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice is proud to announce professor Kevin Beaver has been awarded one of the 2014 Graduate Faculty Mentor Awards. The award carries an honorarium of $3,000.
