FSU College of Criminology and Criminal Justice graduate, John Carbone knew what he wanted to do at an early age. “I remember having a mock trial in my eighth-grade Government class. They walked us through the entire process, and I was fascinated. I knew I wanted to play a part in that process, and ultimately that interest led to my career in law enforcement.”
Two College of Criminology and Criminal Justice students earned the Academic Leadership Award during the annual FSU Leadership Awards Night Tuesday, April 11.
Nicole Assenmacher and Julie Kuper earned the Academic Leadership Award based on their academic performance, university service, and contributions to the FSU and College community in and out of the classroom.
Interested students attended the Criminology Career Panel on Friday, March 24, at the Claude Pepper Center's Broad Auditorium.
The event, hosted by the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice, was moderated by the College's Internship Director, Jessica Webber, and featured five panelists:

The Community Safety Web podcast, hosted by the father/son duo of Darrel and Brian Stephens, was created to promote the Institute within the fast-growing world of on-demand audio.

The Office of Graduate Fellowships and Awards (OGFA) recognized Criminology Doctoral student Kaylee Noorman in a new Graduate Student Profile. Kaylee was recognized for a research grant she received from Performance-Based Standards to study barriers youth face to continuing their education when reentering to the community from residential programs.
FSU Criminology Faculty Ranked No. 1 In the Nation for Research Productivity and Scholarly Influence
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ¾ The Journal of Criminal Justice Education (February 2023) published an article that provides a quantitative assessment of article productivity and influence among faculty in criminology and criminal justice doctoral programs in the United States from 2015-2021.
Daniel Mears, Mark C. Stafford Professor of Criminology and Distinguished Research Professor, recently served as guest editor for a Criminal Justice Reform special issue of the American Journal of Criminal Justice.
The FSU College of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Center for Criminology and Public Policy Research is partnering with the Leon County Sheriff's Office to reduce violent crime.
The College's master's in criminal justice studies remains among the nation's best, according to the U.S. News and World Report's 2023 Best Online Programs ranking.
The College's online master's program jumped one spot to No. 5 nationally and placed No. 4 among public universities and No. 3 for veterans.
