Matthew Robinson, College of Criminology & Criminal Justice alumnus and professor at Appalachian State University, was recently named among the Top 25 most influential criminologists by AcademicInfluence.com, coming in at the 19th most influential in the field.
The College of Criminology and Criminal Justice’s online graduate program remains among the top 10 best programs in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 Best Online Programs ranking.
The College’s online master’s degree in criminal justice retained its respective spots at No. 8 nationally and No. 6 among public universities. For veterans, the online program checked in at No. 5.

Dr. Emma Fridel has only recently joined the College’s faculty, but her research is already getting national attention. Dr. Fridel recently published a study in Justice Quarterly addressing mass shootings in the United States and how government policy could better work to prevent gun violence.
